{"id":468,"date":"2015-12-12T19:05:23","date_gmt":"2015-12-12T19:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/simplymeandjeans.wordpress.com\/?p=468"},"modified":"2015-12-12T19:05:23","modified_gmt":"2015-12-12T19:05:23","slug":"words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karenlawson.net\/?p=468","title":{"rendered":"Words"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/karenlawson.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/emily-dickinson-quote2.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-469\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-469\" src=\"https:\/\/karenlawson.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/emily-dickinson-quote2.png\" alt=\"emily-dickinson-quote2\" width=\"258\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/karenlawson.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/emily-dickinson-quote2.png 584w, https:\/\/karenlawson.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/emily-dickinson-quote2-258x300.png 258w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 258px) 100vw, 258px\" \/><\/a>Words are strange things.\u00a0 Simply scribblings that have been accepted by the masses to mean something and whose meaning, in this day and time, can just as easily and arbitrarily be changed.<\/p>\n<p>Some of us use them with the precision of a surgeons\u2019 knife to cut to the heart quickly and almost imperceptibly. \u00a0Some of us use them with such beauty and eloquence that the rest of us are enraptured and addicted. \u00a0\u00a0Some of us stumble over them, misuse them and find our hearts dissatisfied and disappointed at the messages we share.\u00a0 Some of us string lots of them together yet, say nothing, because we believe ourselves to be wiser than we truly are.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Some of us have to be reminded to simply use them.<\/p>\n<p>Amazingly, however we use them, they seem to create our own reality as we speak them, type them or write them. \u00a0Our own words make our worlds more than do the words of others.<\/p>\n<p>Such power in random scribblings of lines and curves, don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n<p>And yet, we need them.\u00a0 I need them.<\/p>\n<p>My heart races when just the right one appears.\u00a0 It breaks when I have no one to share them with.\u00a0 It longs to use them in such a way that others are changed. Challenged. \u00a0Encouraged. \u00a0Directed\u2026 <em>to the first and final Word<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And, yes, my heart needs to learn when there should be none.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t do that well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Silence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And the power of the words I should never have spoken overwhelms me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:right;\">It\u2019s a funny thing.<\/p>\n<p>The words I want to remember seem to vanish like the life-giving warmth of a breath on a bitterly cold day.\u00a0 Those that I want to wipe from my mind seem to be recorded and replayed over and over in the dark corners that I can\u2019t seem to find.\u00a0 And, those that I desperately need seem to fly past my eyes and ears so quickly that they don\u2019t have a chance <a href=\"https:\/\/karenlawson.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/quotefancy-11268-3840x2160-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-471\"><br \/>\n<\/a>to alight in my soul and sing of hope.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/karenlawson.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/quotefancy-11268-3840x2160-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-471\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-471\" src=\"https:\/\/karenlawson.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/quotefancy-11268-3840x2160-1.jpg\" alt=\"Quotefancy-11268-3840x2160\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Still\u2026I can\u2019t live without them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Words are strange things.\u00a0 Simply scribblings that have been accepted by the masses to mean something and whose meaning, in this day and time, can just as easily and arbitrarily be changed.
